THE OUTLINES

An assemblage of videos, scores, and traces derived from an exploration using clay as a catalyst to disrupt the dominant patterns of the constructed self. What shapes us and what moves us when the familiar is still? In this work, I used a performative practice of layering wet clay on my head (as learned from artist Olivier de Sagazan) in order to hack my usual perception and find other meanings, other possibles, and another relation to self. The work was part of a group exhibition by graduating students of Art School MAA in Levyhally Gallery, Suomenlinna.Helsinki in August 2020.

The videos were visible via QR codes

The stills and the clay used during the performances, as well as the painted marks and clay leftovers on the fabrics that were my ground in the videos, were all installed as traces of an event nobody saw yet had a profound impact on my work and relationship to self.

Part of this assemblage was also a booklet of essays and scores stemming from the performative work.

The work was produced during the first confinement of the Corona pandemic in Helsinki.

The experiment was born out of the desire to develop my own hacking choreographic practice inspired by a Masterclass on clay with artist Olivier de Sagazan in Marseilles, 2018
