In May 2018, I spent an entire day at the Botanical Gardens in Helsinki encountering the living and looking for gestures of empathy with the non-human. How do we all meet?
I explored embodying the vegetal beings while having to navigate a man-made structure with its rules and politics.
I looked for gestures to approach and merge rather than capture, gestures to question the boundaries established between humans and the Other, in this case, humans and organisms from the vegetal realm.
