WHAT IS IT?
Perceptual Pedagogy is a psycho-somatic discipline that supports the development of the individual, social, intellectual, behavioral, relational, mental, and learning capacities
The discipline, originally developed by Ph.D. Danis Bois (osteopath, fascia-and psychotherapist), is the subject of ongoing research involving scientists from various fields at the CERAP.org, Center for Applied Research and Study of Perceptual Psychoeducation at the University Fernando Pessoa in Portugal

How?
# MANUAL TREATMENT ON THE FASCIA
THE PSYCHOTONIC TOUCH is a relational touch that creates a real tissue dialogue between the practitioner and the accompanied person and awakens a new sensibility. Its protocol is made of slow stretches and support points on the person lying down. The person finds a state of unity and physical and mental well-being. Self-perceiving becomes a pathway to an enriched relation to self, to others, and to the world around and whatever events one encounters
# FULL PRESENCE® meditation
Through the feeling of a living, sensitive and warm body, this meditation renews the presence to oneself and delivers information that allows one to better understand and live oneself. It promotes the creation of a space of silence, and a climate of calm and balance. Step away from the hustle and bustle to deploy a mode of perception that optimizes reflection, creativity, and innovation. A moment to listen to each other and welcome self, others, and events with more openness in seeing potentialities
# SENSORIAL MOVEMENT TRAINING®
is a dynamic and internalized gestural work. Sensorial Movement develops a presence to one’s gesture and conveys a sense of unity and engagement that offers a solid commitment to action. By developing self-listening one learns to better open up and relate to others. Moving is also a way to address eventual blind spots and areas less dominant in one’s perception, beyond one’s constructed representations…one can slowly build up more directions, orientations, and amplitude. New possibles are born from the experience of the moving body
# DIALOGUE
A time to put the bodily (manual, gestural, or during meditation) experience into words, simply describing it. Dialogue is essential to highlight and promote experiences that, if they stay unnamed, do not take on their full dimension. All these practices develop new capacities of attention and perception and open towards a more conscious presence to oneself in relation to others

An extra tool can be added to express what was encountered during Full Presence – writing, drawing, dancing…without any need for skills or previous experience. We will usually suggest writing a few words for ex directly post-immediate experience

One of the key principles of Perceptual Pedagogy is to momentarily establish a slight loss of references, for example by working eyes closed, or moving slowly, using silence and stillness as entry points, and ‘hack’ one’s habitual predominant representations. This is called the Sensible mode.  Once a loss of references has been experienced, the practice invites us to stand witness to what new data eventually emerges from this state and integrate the unusual into the known, in simple words, learning from what is new and finding new meanings. The novelty in this discipline comes from the emergence of potentialities otherwise invisible to the usual perception that once experienced, reveal new valid meaning and knowledge directly from corporeality and a lived experience
